  • "Continuous criminal enterprise"

Posted: Saturday, 23 April 2011 | By: Nobull

Great common sense article in Age 220411 by former Dectrective Inspector Jim O'Brien outlining suggested legislation on continuous criminal enterprise.Read more: http://www.theage.com.au/opinion/society-and-culture/its-far-too-easy-for-cashedup-crims-to-play-the-legal-system-20110422-1drg2.html#ixzz1KJ2iUJ1g
Would appear sound policy to adopt.

  • Jobs for our youth

Posted: Tuesday, 16 November 2010 | By: NaomiA

There has been much media about law and order in this pre-election period. More policing will never resolve the level of violence arising from a disengaged, unemployed, and overlooked cohort of young people who just can't find a way into a career and a chance in the community. With soaring unemployment in Melbourne's northern suburbs the federal government has supported funding for pre-apprenticeship training in recent years. However in the ab...

  • No Primaries for Australia

Posted: Friday, 20 May 2011 | By: DrGeoffPain

The Kilsyth "primary" experiment was an embarrassing disaster. The only acceptable preselection process is one vote, one value for all paid up members of the ALP. By offering free membership to all affiliated union members for one year, we could have an organization larger than Rotary. Then union members who do not vote for us would have an honorable way out and we would expect the FEAs to become sustainable through the "new democr...

  • Outer East Bushfire and Transport Solution

Posted: Sunday, 21 November 2010 | By: ReubenVogt

I live in the Dandenong Ranges, you know Melbourne's Lungs. Every year we are told of the threat of bushfires to our fair forest and to leave rather than stay. This is good advice.

We are also a major tourism drawcard for Victoria. With many attractions: Puffing Billy, Dandenong Ranges National Park and the various public gardens to name a few.

This attracts lots of state, interstate and international visitors using our roads and public tr...

  • Public Transport Plan

Posted: Thursday, 28 October 2010 | By: raypastoors

The Greens have put forward an inspiring plan to improve Victorias transport system why Liberals have put back the use of the old Tram line. The Greens plan suggests some great ideas like a Doncaster station and one at Eltham North. In addition the extension of a tram service to Doncaster. Perhaps one is only needed but is ALP looking into this or what transport plans in the campaign do you have?

I have heard very little and beginning to worry...

  • Recycled Water

    Posted: Thursday, 4 November 2010 | By: Emma10

I have never fully understood why Australia doesn't recycle water. They do in the UK and many other countries. and it is so much more sustainable than basically every other water option. recycle away I say!

  • Stand up for social equality

Posted: Saturday, 13 November 2010 | By: SimonL

How about differentiating yourselves from the Liberal party and standing up for same-sex marriage? My vote is with the Greens until the Victorian ALP represents my voice on this issue.

Also, as a party that is comprised of many with a legal background, the attack on the Greens member and who he represented whilst working as a barrister is utterly disgraceful and only serves to harm the ALP. Less cheap tactics and more substance please.

    As a...

  • TAC premium for offending drivers

Posted: Monday, 25 July 2011 | By: matthewz

I notice the ALP road safety strategy proposes a reduced TAC premium for drivers who can already afford new five-star rated vehicles. I strongly suggest that before this is put into place, we take stock of those drivers who cost the most to our society in terms of physical, emotional and financial damage: offending drivers. Seven months ago I was nearly killed by one. He attempted a u-turn across four lanes and a solid white line and witnesses...
