I live in the Dandenong Ranges, you know Melbourne's Lungs. Every year we are told of the threat of bushfires to our fair forest and to leave rather than stay. This is good advice.
We are also a major tourism drawcard for Victoria. With many attractions: Puffing Billy, Dandenong Ranges National Park and the various public gardens to name a few.
This attracts lots of state, interstate and international visitors using our roads and public transport, not to mention the growth of the local population in recent years, clogging our roads.
Traffic volumes have grown, however investment in transport has not. To fix this id advise the following:
Addition of 3rd lanes to Burwood Highway from Ferntree Gully Rd to Scoresby Rd and from Stud Rd to Eastlink. This would alleviate daily commute issues and allow safe and timely evacuations from the Dandenongs.
Extend Dorset Rd from Burwood Hwy to Lysterfield Rd to alleviate serious traffic issues in this area.
And finally duplicate the Belgrave train line from Ferntree Gully to Belgrave and modify the stations accordingly to ease pressure on the line.
I look forward to hearing to some commitment from Labor for our family here
